[Class 100 (i).] Sheet-delivery apparatus, particularly for a stop-cylinder printing-machine O, comprises revolving grippers A which deposit the sheets printed side up on a conveyer T, the tapes or the like of which are wound at one end around a stationary roller V<1>, and at the other end around a reciprocating roller V<2>, the speed of the tapes being controlled by rotating the rollers V<1>, V2 by means of a belt wound around pulleys on the rollers in the reverse direction to the tapes and passing over a pulley P oscillated at intervals to give the required motion to the tapes. As the grippers A lift the sheet from the machine O, the roller V<2> starts to move away from the roller V<1> and the pulley P is stationary so that the tapes T are unwound from the roller V<2>. When the sheet is supported by the tapes T, the grippers A release the sheet and at the same time the pulley P is driven slowly in a clockwise direction so that the sheet is carried forward by the tapes. Near the end of the forward movement of the roller V<2>, the pulley P is given a rapid clockwise rotation so as to transfer the sheet partly to a reciprocating carriage C of the type comprising endless-bands actuated by a pawl D<1> engaging a chain D so as to carry the sheets over a pile table and deposit them thereon. The clockwise rotation of the pulley P continues during the initial part of the backward movement of the roller V<2> so as to ensure that the sheet passes completely on to the conveyer C and so as to allow the grippers A to pass between the conveyers C, T ready to deliver the next sheet. Subsequently, the cycle of operations is completed by giving a rapid anticlockwise rotation to the pulley P so as to rewind the tapes T from the roller V<2> to the V<1>, so that the tape conveyer is ready for the succeeding sheet. The pulley P is given its movements by a rack-and-pinion gearing R, R<1> operated from a cam-and-lever mechanism driven from a shaft G which also reciprocates the carriage C and roller V<2> through suitable mechanism. The carriage C may be omitted in small machines.
