Abstract

690,763. Stoppers. FREEMAN, W. S. Dec. 5, 1951 [Dec. 12, 1950], No. 30368/50. Class 125(iii) A closure for carboys &c. has a flexible rubber plug 10 serrated at 11 to grip the mouth of the container and with a stepped central bore, the upper portion 15 of which is of relatively small diameter and short in length merging with a curve 17 into a wider portion 16, and a liner of polyethylene having a hollow cylindrical body 19 to fit into the bore 16, a flange 20 to fit around the lower part 18 of the plug 10 and a hollow neck 23, to fit the bore 15, with a hollow head 24 which is passed through the bore 15 to lie outside the plug and retain the liner therein. The plug 10 has springing from it upper periphery a skirt 13 which is folded over around the outside of the carboy and which has a groove 14 to receive a securing wire. A vent passage 26 provides communication between the interior and the outer atmosphere.
