Abstract

690.474. Hedge cutters. WILSON, C. I. Jan. 31, 1952. No. 2577/52. Class 6(ii) Relates to hedge cutters of the kind having a motor-driven shaft 17 for reciprocating a V-toothed cutter knife 10 against a similar fixed knife 14, the driving shaft 17 having on a disc 26 an eccentric pin 27 engaging a slot 23 in the middle portion of the movable knife. According to the invention, the fixed knife is fast with one part 20, Fig. 3, of a two-piece mounting 20, 20a clamped on a sleeve 18 surrounding shaft 17 and forming a housing for the disc and pin. Further, a bar 21, fast with the movable knife, is reciprocated in contact with upper and lower bearing strips 30, 22 on the parts of the two-piece mounting. Pressure on the movable knife is maintained by spring-pressed balls 31 adjusted bv screws 33. A ball-bearing 24 for shaft 17 is enclosed by the two-piece mounting, the parts of which also grip key-plates 28 on the sleeve 18. Specification 433,238 is referred to.
