Abstract

690,443. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Sept. 26, 1951 [Oct. 14, 1950], No. 25106/50. Class 108 (iii). A resilient mounting comprises a mounting surface 13, 15 of natural or synthetic rubber adapted to engage a surface of a load or of a supporting structure and serrated, grooved or otherwise provided with a relief pattern, a tubular flanged metal member 1, a frustoconical annulus 3 bonded at its major diameter end to the bore of the member 1 and having a metal sleeve 4 bonded within the minor diameter end, an annular dished cover plate 5, and a plug 7 for supporting the load having a reduced diameter portion 8 making a tight fit within the sleeve and a flange portion 9 which grips the cover-plate 5 against the end of the sleeve 4. The member 1 has a flange 2 which rests on a plate 11 to which is moulded a facing 13 of natural rubber formed with concentric grooves 13a. Pegs 12 rigid with the plate 11 register within holes 10 in the flange 2. Alternatively the plate 11 may be riveted to the flange 2. In a modification, the plate 11 is dispensed with and a rubber facing (which may be grooved or serrated) is moulded directly on the underisde of the flange 2. The bore of the member 4 is accurately machined. The upper surface of the plug 7 is faced with rubber 15 for engagement with the surface of the load. Alternatively, Fig. 1 (not shown), the plug 7 is apertured and the load is secured thereto by a bolt. The facing 13 may be dispensed with and the flange 2 is then secured by bolts to the supporting member A, Fig. 3 (not shown).
