Abstract

870,910. Resilient mountings; friction dampers. LORD MANUFACTURING CO. April 6, 1960, No. 12149/60. Class 108(3). A resilient mounting comprises a supported member 2 with a cylindrical side wall 7 and parallel end walls 8, 10, a supporting member I with a head 5 and a stem 4 extending through a hole 11 in the upper end wall 10, and a body of resilient material 3 bonded to the head and having three annular ribs 14, 15, 16 to resist loads in the radial, upward and downward directions respectively. The ribs are under compressive load within the supported member so that under normal vibrations a friction-gripping force sufficient to hold the ribs in position is provided but under large amplitude vibrations the ribs slip, acting as friction dampers to reduce the amplitude of vibration. The supported member has an extended radial flange 12 with bolt holes for mounting purposes.
