Abstract

Locking nuts.-A nut forming a single unit exerts a rigid and also a. resilient grip upon the surface of the material to be secured ; the resilient grip is exerted uniformly over the complete extent of the contact area of the resilient section on the surface. Fig. 2 shows a nut having two forms of resilient sleeve R secured to the core of the nut. Fig. 7 shows a form in which the resilient grip is exerted by a ring R located in a recess in the base of the nut. In the modification shown in Fig. 5 a resilient ring R is placed between the nut body and a washer loosely attached to the nut.
