Abstract

Class 100(i) [Also in Group XXXIV] A freely rotatable roller over which cloth passes during processing, such as washing or dyeing, comprises slats or tubes 1, secured to aluminium end discs 2 carrying bearings 3, such as oil-filled sintered bronze bearings or roller bearings. The roller is supported by stub shafts 4 rotatably mounted in frame members 6 by double ball races 5, the stub shafts 4 being rotatable in the bearings 3. The shafts 4 are driven at the same speed in opposite directions by pulleys 7 and'8, thus overcoming the static friction of the bearings 3 and allowing the roller to assume the speed of the cloth passing over it without restraining dimensional changes in the cloth.
