Class 52(iv) The central transverse spring units 33 of, e.g., a tractor seat having a frame 1, each comprises an upper zig-zag spring 35 having a web portion 37, downwardly turned legs 39 and inwardly turned parts 41 the lower ends of which are secured to frame members 3 and a lower zig-zag spring 43 in the same vertical plane and having a web 45 and end turns 47 secured by clips 49 to the parts 41. The lower webs 45 have a common buffer pad 53 or a pad for each. The upper springs 35 are secured to a boundary wire 61 by clips 63. Front and rear units 9, 11 are of known construction, comprise an upper web part 17 and legs 19, 21 and are connected to wire 61 by wires 65 and suitable connectors. Parts 41 engage sockets 25 of members 23 mounted on the frames 3, endwise movement being prevented by lugs 29 and turning movement by flanges 31. As shown in Fig. 10 each unit of a seat having a raised rear frame 75 comprises a lower spring 105, 95, 97 and an upper spring 93, 89, 91, connectors 49 being provided. As shown in Fig. 11, a lower spring 123, 127 and an upper spring 121, 115, 117, 119 form each unit. As shown in Fig. 12, an upper spring 143, 135, 137 and a lower spring 145 joined to the rear frame 75 are connected at the front by a link 139 and a spring 141 to the front frame 73, the link 139 and spring 141 being continuations of either the spring 137 or the spring 145.
