Abstract

687,853. Printing-machines. BRADBURY SAUNDERS, Ltd., and BRADBURY, R. Feb. 20, 1951 [Dec. 14, 1949], No. 32023/49. Class 100 (ii). Inking-apparatus.-A mounting for an endless felt band applying ink to a printing roller, e.g. in surface-printing (wall-paper printing) machines, includes a roller, movable for bandtension adjusting, the bearings of which have primary and secondary adjusting means, one imparting a major movement at right angles to the roller axis sufficient for removal of the band, and the other, superimposed, giving an independent similar movement for fine adjustment of the band tension and straight running. As shown a felt band 1 runs over rollers 2-5 all in open bearings. At each end the bearing 15 of the roller 4 is fixed to, and the bearing 16 of the roller 5 is vertically adjustable by a screw 17 in a web 14a upstanding from a block 14 vertically adjustable by a screw 14b in a guideway in a bracket 11 horizontally slidable in a slot 6 between two arms 7, 8 on the machine frame. The bracket 11 is adjusted by two means : (a) a screw 12 axially restrained in a block 10; and (b) a lever 21 pivoted at 23 to the arm 8 and having a slot 20 engaging a pin 19 on the block 10 which is also slidable in the slot 6; the lever 21 has a compression spring 24 urging it into inclined locking slots in the arm 7.
