Abstract

Masonry products, e.g. bricks, cinder or concrete blocks, are coated by applying to a surface thereof a composition comprising a thermosetting resin and pigment, the temperature of the surface being sufficiently high to cure the resin. The composition may be applied dry or in liquid form by brushing, dipping or spraying, and in one or more coats. The composition may be applied to hot, freshly fired bricks or steam-cured cinder or concrete blocks and, if desired,, curing may be completed by a further baking treatment, e.g., by infra red lamps. Suitable synthetic resins are phenol-, urea-, melamine-aldehyde resins.
