686,723. Hydraulic shockabsorbers. BOURCIER DE CARBON DE PREVINQUIERES, C. M. L. L. April 27, 1948 [May 31,1947], No. 29875/50. Divided out of 686,662. Class 108 (iii). A direct-acting shock absorber for a road-vehicle suspension, comprises a piston rod 1 connected to the vehicle axle and carrying a piston 2, movable in a cylinder 3 connected with the chassis, and a wall 7, carrying separate inlet and outlet valves 8 and 12, which separates a chamber 6 in the upper part of the cylinder, from the cylinder proper. The valve 12 comprises a flexible metal, or foil disc, and the valve 8 is a ball, loaded by a carefully calibrated helical spring 9.
