Abstract

841,410. Road vehicle spring suspensions; hydraulic shock absorbers. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. March 27, 1958 [March 30, 1957], No. 9865/58. Classes 108(2) and 108(3). A road vehicle wheel suspension comprises a spring 17 connected between the vehicle body 15 and a shock absorber cylinder 16 which contains a perforated dashpot piston 21, connected to the body through a rod 23, and a loading piston 20 which is connected through a rod 22 to the lower wheel supporting link 12. A pipe 26 is connected to the lower end of the cylinder to exhaust any fluid which may by-pass piston 20, and a conduit 25 extending through rod 23 and piston 21, allows the volume of fluid in the cylinder to be varied to adjust the ground clearance of the body.
