Abstract

685,956. Wire brushes. SATZINGER, G. Sept. 12, 1950 [Sept. 15, 1949], No. 22410/50. Class 19. A wire brush consists of bristle tufts, fastened with or without sockets in a set and a bristle guide connected with the set, the guide having a bore for each single bristle tuft whereby the bristle tufts are held parallel to one another, the bristle guide being adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the bristles and fixable in a desired position. The bristle set is connected with the bristle guide by adjustable holding lugs and held by screws. The bristles are interchangeable in tufts. By twisting the bristle set relative to the bristle guide, the bristles may be adjusted to any desired working angle. Small steel strips or bundles of such strips may be inserted in place of the bristles tufts. In Figs. 1, 2 and 4 a hard wire brush comprises a bristle guide 1 with handle 2. The guide is provided with holding lugs 3 with elongated slots 4. Lugs 6, provided on the upper part 5 of the bristle set with threaded holes, constitute counter lugs to the holding lugs 3. By means of screws 7 and the holding lugs 3 and 6, the bristle set is connected with the bristle guide, adjustable to any desirable bristle length. The lower part 8 of the bristle set has bores corresponding to those of the bristle guides in order to take the bristle tufts 9; it is connected by screws 10 with the upper part of the bristle set. The upper'part 5 is provided with elongated slots 11 for the passage of the screws 10, whereby the lower part 8 of the bristle set may be longitudinally shifted relative to the bristle guide 1. The bristle guide 1 is provided with a bore 12. A lever pin 13, extends through bore 12 into a bore 14 in the lower part 8 of the bristle set. This lever pin enables the slant of the bristles to be adjusted. Figs. 5 and 6 show a power-driven circular brush in which the drive is applied to the bristle guide 28. Shaft 29 is provided with a threaded portion 30 on which is screwed the upper part 31 of the bristle set. The lower part 32 of the bristle set is provided with bores which correspond to those in the bristle guide 28, for the accommodation of the bristle tufts 33. The lower part 32 of the bristle set is connected with the upper part by means of the screws 34. To adjust the slant of the bristles the bristle set is twisted relatively to the bristle guide and locked with the counter nut 35.
