Abstract

685,884. Pneumatic conveyers. CRANE CO. Oct. 2, 1950. No. 24063/50. Class 78 (i). Finely divided material is fed into a pneumatic conveyer through a chamber 2 composed of cylindrical parts 3, 4, a funnel 5 and a bend 7 to which compressed air is admitted through jets 39, 46, 47, 48 and 49. Compressed air is supplied to the pipe 13 which leads to a header 32 consisting of a series of tees 33 with outlet 34. The tee 35 is larger than the others and its outlet is connected by a pipe 37 to the jet 39 opening into the cylinder 3. The outlets of 'four tees are connected by pipes 41, 42, 43 and 44 to the jets 46, 47, 48 and 49 which are disposed in different planes in the funnel 5. The outlet of the remaining tee is connected by a pipe 34 to a jet 45 entering the lowest portion of the bend 7. A shut-off valve 15 is inserted in the pipe 13 adjacent to a pressure regulator 16 and another stop valve 17. A by-pass 19 including a shut-off valve 21 enables the regulator 16 to be serviced without shutting pipe 34 to a jet 45 entering the lowest portion of the bend 7. The pipe 13 communicates with an air cylinder (not shown) through a union 24, safety valve 25, three-way valve 20, elbow 27 and pipe 28. This cylinder provides a safety device.
