685,470. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd., [trading as NON-DRIP MEASURE CO.]. Feb. 12, 1951 [Feb. 10, 1950], No. 3496/50. Class 106 (v) Apparatus of the siphon-type for delivering measured quantities of liquid from a bottle or like container comprises a measuring chamber 1, a tubular attachment fitting 2 embodying an air tube 10, a supply conduit 11 and an annular chamber 7, inlet and outlet ports 12 and 13 separated by a wall being provided on the lower side of the annular chamber so that the liquid flows round the whole of the chamber to provide a head of liquid above the outlet port, which prevents air entering the bottle through the supply conduit, and then discharges against the side of the measuring chamber to prevent turbulence. When the liquid overflows the top of the outlet tube 15, air ceases to pass into the bottle and the supply stops while the measured quantity is siphoned off until the siphon action is broken when the lower edge of the siphon bell 14 is uncovered. The measuring chamber is in two separable halves, clamped together by a lock ring 18; the upper half has an air vent 16 and the lower half may be of transparent material or have transparent windows. To vary the quantity measured, different sizes of the lower half of the measuring chamber may be fitted or the outlet tube may be adjustable. Restrictor plugs 17 are provided at both ends of the air tube to prevent air locks.
