Abstract
573,633. Foam-producing apparatus. DEHN, F. B. (National Foam System, Inc.). Sept. 16, 1943, No. 15195. [Class 47 (ii)] [Also in Group II] Apparatus for injecting a solution of foam-forming material into a flowing stream of water comprises a venturi passage 14 interposed in the water stream, a container 10 for the foam solution screwed at 13 on to the threaded lower end 12 of the venturi fitting 11, a wide tube 27 extending from a vertical passage 20 in the fitting 11 well down into the container and provided at the upper extremity with spaced openings 28 and a narrow tube 29 which extends nearly to the bottom of the container and communicates by passages 23, 30 with the low-pressure point 24 of the venturi whereby water passing through the passage 20 enters the top of the container through the openings 28 and forces the foam-forming solution in the container through the tube 29 into the main water stream at 24, the rate of injection of the solution varying with the flow of the main water stream. The container may be recharged after being cleared of water through the opening 20 upon removal of the closure cap 22. Specification 513,147 is referred to.
