Abstract
353,593. Nozzles. MORRIS, C., Onecote, Moor Lane, Woodford, Bramhall, Cheshire. May 24, 1930, No. 15991. [Class 69 (iii).] A nozzle for fire hose of the kind in which the stream of water is regulated by a cone valve B axially mounted in a body part A on which screws a sleeve D to which the nozzle part d is attached, has the nozzle formed with an internal collar d<1> with which the valve B may engage. The wall d<2> between the collar d<1> and the body D is inclined to direct the liquid against the cone B. A ring of holes d<3> in the nozzle admit air and prevent a vacuum being formed therein. The cone B is supported in the sleeve A by thin flat blades b to prevent eddying. The part d<2> may also be provided with an annular flange E and peripheral slots e, to provide an annular spray which may be stopped or regulated by a ring F screwed on the nozzle to engage the flange E. The nozzle may be calibrated and a scale engraved in the body A to indicate the volume of water passed.
