Abstract

Red leaf and other impurities are extracted from wholly or partly manufactured tea by suction nozzles connected by pipes to a suction duct forming a bench of seats for operatives holding the nozzles, one in each hand. Stationary, revolving or vibrated tables or a travelling belt support the tea in front of the operatives and slope downwardly from hoppers supplying tea at the upper end towards the conduit so that the tea, after picking, is discharged at the lower end into a container. The suction duct has one or more doors for removing the impurities and baffles near the doors preventing the impurities reaching the suction fan.
