Abstract
1,086,214. Screening apparatus. MARSHALL'S TEA MACHINERY CO. Ltd. July 20, 1964 [July 19, 1963], No. 28591/63. Heading B2H. Tea from a drying apparatus is received from a chute 20 on to a foraminous endless band 1 of a conveyor through which a current of air is passed for blowing dust from the tea, the dust-laden air being directed to a cyclone 18 for separating the dust therefrom. The conveyor band may be horizontal or inclined and may be made of wire mesh. As shown, the air passes downwardly through the endless band being sucked out of an open top chamber 10 between the upper and lower flights of the conveyor by means of a fan 16. A hood 21 provided with water-cooled pipes 22 may be arranged above the conveyor in order to provide cool air for cooling the tea. Alternatively, the air may pass upwardly through the conveyor band, a suction hood being placed above the band for that purpose. Instead of sucking air through the conveyor band, a pressurized system may be used for creating the air flow. The tea is discharged on to a chute 24. A brush 25 removes tea clinging to the lower flight of the band 1.
