Class 59 The roller and the breast member of a roller-and-breast mill are made of a ceramic material such as is obtained by burning fine grain corundum with the usual binder having a hardness of 7¢ to 9 according to the Mohs' scale of hardness. As shown, the hollow roller 1 is provided at its ends with stepped-down surfaces 2 and is coupled to a shaft 3 by way of disc flanges 4 which grip the surface 2 by means of conically bored-out rim portions 5. The flanges 5 are secured against axial displacement by locking rings 6. The shaft 3 is provided with an axial partitioned hole 7 serving for the admission and exhaust of cooling water.
