Abstract

684,994. Sliding clasp fasteners. LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1951 [Aug. 17, 1950], No. 20414/50. Class 44 An open-end fitting for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a box member adapted to be completely detached from and replaced on the fastener as and when required. Preferably the end fitting remains attached to one stringer in normal use, but can be detached therefrom if desired. The fitting comprises a sleeve member 5 clamped on the bead 3 of one tape and enclosed within a box member 6 which consists of parts 7, 8 hinged together along their lower edges. As shown in Fig. 5, the parts are formed with internal webs 9, 10 so as to provide two compartments when closed, one of which receives the sleeve 5 and the other a similar sleeve on the other stringer. The parts are normally held dosed by latch parts 17, 17a, and the hinge pin 20, Fig. 6, is resilient and located in a bore 22 in one part which is placed at both ends.
