Abstract

804,754. Sliding clasp fasteners; stops. LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. May 16, 1956 [May 27, 1955], No. 15325/55. Class 44 An open-end fitting for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a die-cast metal box member 7, Figs. 2 and 3, adapted to be secured to part of the end portion of one stringer tape 2 and a die-cast metal pin member 8 comprising a hollow pin 13 adapted to receive the end portion of the beaded edge 3 of another stringer tape 1 to which the tape 2 is to be connected, and two spaced reinforcement plates 14, the space 21 between the plates 14 communicating with the interior of the pin and being adapted to accommodate part of the end portion of the tape 1 adjacent the beaded edge 3. The plates 14 are joined at 22, Fig. 4, at their lower edges, and the member 8 is secured to the tape 1 by indentations 17. The box-member 7 is formed with two blind sockets 11, 15 the latter having a reduced tubular prolongation 12 whilst the socket 11 has a slot 20 to receive the plates 14. Indentations 16 in the member 12 secure the member 7 to the tape 2 and the socket 15 is slotted at 19 to receive the tape 2. Reinforcement tapes 9, 10 are provided on the tapes 1, 2.
