Abstract
684,279. Magnetic separators. SPODIG, H. Aug. 17, 1950 [Aug. 22, 1949], No. 20395/50. Class 72 A magnetic separator screen comprises a non-magnetic frame, a plurality of longitudinal guide bars and transverse permanent magnets with opposite poles lying against adjacent guide bars. As shown, a non-magnetic frame 3 encloses a plurality of guide bars 1 lying longitudinally of the frame and a number of permanent magnets 2 disposed at the ends of the guide bars and lying transversely of the frame with like poles against opposite sides of a guide bar, the two outermost guide bars being of opposite polarity. The guide bars may be straight or wavy, Fig. 2 (not shown), with off-sets, Fig. 3 (not shown), replaced by spiral springs, Fig. 4 (not shown) or surrounded by spiral springs. Additional magnets may be inserted. Two guide bars 1a, Fig. 7, having off-sets 5 may be used with two magnets, or with a single magnet, Fig. 8 (not shown). Each guide bar may be comprised of two magnetic portions with a non-magnetic portion between; in this case the magnets on opposite sides of each combined guide bar may be of opposite polarity, Fig. 9 (not shown). The magnetic screens may be arranged one above the other, Fig. 10 (not shown).
