'Classes 75(i) and 126 In a cooking oven with a burner at the back, the combustion space is bridged by a member with an upstanding guide wall for the upwardly flowing hot gases and forwardly extending side pieces which assist the passage of the cooler gases to an outlet, and the burner is carried by a plate which is located beneath the bridging member and closes the combustion space from below. The burner 10 is carried by a plate 11, which rests on guide ribs 15 extending downwardly from horizontal guide ribs 12 on the side of the oven. Guide ribs 18 forming a rearward extension of ribs 12 carry a bridging top with an upstanding guide wall 28 round the inner edges of side pieces 26 and the rear edge of front piece 27. The side pieces curve upwardly at the rear to join extensions of the upstanding guide wall 28 to guide the cooler gases to a transverse flue 33 leading to the outlet flue 34. The inlet mouth 23 of the burner has a gap so that it clears the injector nozzle 22 when the burner is inserted, and adjustable abutments may be provided on the rear wall of 'the oven so that the inlet 23 may be brought into coaxial relationship with the nozzle 22. Perforations may be provided in the guide wall 28 to enable the burner flames to be seen. A thermostat 38 may be mounted in the flue 33. The bottom tray 21 of the oven rests on the foremcst part of the ribs 12 and comes against the forepart of the bridgeing top 27.
