683,274. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 4, 1951, No. 18521/51. Class 112. In a feed-dog throw-out mechanism comprising an apertured arm moving with the feed-lift rock-shaft, a lever pivoted on the rock-shaft and also having an aperture, and a stem having a threaded portion and a frustro-conical portion, one of the apertures is threaded to receive the threaded portion of the stem and the other aperture has a cylindrical part and a frustro-conical part which receives the frustro-conical portion of the stem. The arm 68 is integral with the feedlift rock-shaft 44 and has a threaded aperture 69 into which the stem 72 screws. The pivoted lever 53 is biassed by a spring 57 in the anticlockwise direction (Fig. 4) and its aperture 64 has a frustro-conical part 66 which is engaged by the frustro-conical portion 75 of the stem. When the stem is unscrewed to the position shown by dotted lines in Fig. 6, the lever turns in the anti-clockwise direction to lower a link 49, the feed-bar 36 and the feed-dog 34. An adjustable stop 86 is mounted on a bearing for the loop-taker shaft 27. Advance movement is given to the feed-dog by an arm 39 on a rock shaft 41.
