Abstract

681,856. Agricultural implements. WEXFORD ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 31, 1949 [Dec. 31, 1948], No. 27854/49. Class 6(i) A plough is attached to a tractor by means of a frame 1 pivoted on brackets 8 on the tractor rear axle 7. A further frame 2 is mounted on pivot bars 3 on frame 1 and is transversely adjustable thereon, and may be locked in the adjusted position. The relative angular position of the two frame portions 1, 2 is manually adjusted by means of a hand screw 10 which passes through a swivel nut 11 mounted on a bracket 12 and is slidably and rotatably mounted on a rod 14. The rear of the frame 2 is provided with a channel shaped housing 18 and the plough beam 17 is provided with a spherical enlargement 19 which co-operates with a pair of complementary concave seatings provided on plates 20 mounted in the housing 18 and the beam 17 is clamped in the housing by means of a bolt 22. The front end of the beam 17 passes through a slotted cross-member and engages a screw-threaded rod 24 which passes through a collar and engages a nut 26 having spokes 27. The beam 17 is angularly adjustable about a longitudinal axis by means of a screw 27<SP>1</SP> which passes through a swivel nut 28 journalled in an arm 29 extending laterally from the beam 17. The plough share 5 is adjustably mounted on the beam 17 and a coulter 35 may be provided. The tracter is provided with a handlever 41 mounted on the same shaft as a cam 43 provided with a sleeve 44 which has an arm 45 connected to a lifting lever 38 which is connected to frame 1 by a chain 47. A spring 50 is provided to balance the weight of the plough and the lever 38 is provided with a lever extension 51 for operating implements mounted at the front of the tractor. The tractor may be provided with hydraulic or mechanical power for raising the plough.
