Abstract

681,435. Locking bolts. NEWTON, CHAMBERS & CO., Ltd. Nov. 23, 1950 [Aug. 25, 1949], No. 22139/49. Class 44 Means for locking together three relatively movable members comprise two bolts slidably mounted in the first member, one bolt engaging the second member and retractable only by.means of a key and the other bolt engaging the third member and being non-retractable as long as the first member is in assembled relation with the second member. Figs. 1 and 2 show one embodiment of the invention applied to a soap paste dispenser. The three movable members are a head part 2, and attachment bracket 9 secured to the wall and a container 5. A sliding bolt 1 mounted in a bore in the part 2 is adapted to engage between interrupted screw threads 6 securing the container 5 to the head 2 so that the container cannot be removed. The bolt 1 is projected by screwed end 3 normally covered by the bracket 9. The other bolt 8 is spring loaded to the shot position where a reduced end 14 engages an aperture in the dovetail bracket 9 to prevent the sliding of the head out of the channels 22 on each side thereof. The bolt 8 may be retracted by a key, Fig. 8, inserted in a bore 17 and formed with a pinion 11 for engagement with a rack 10 on the bolt, the key being inserted through an opening 19 of shape corresponding to the pinion 11 in a disc 18. When the bolt 8 has been retracted by the key the head 2 may be slid out of the bracket 9 and access had to the screw-driver slot in the end of the bolt 1, retraction of which allows the container to be removed. The other end of the key may be formed with a screw-driver blade 12 for this purpose. In another form, Fig. 9, the bolt 1a locking the container to the head may be biased to the releasing position by a spring 27, the bracket 9, by contact with the end 25, maintaining the bolt in the locking position. A ramp 31 may be formed on the top of the bracket so that the bolt 1a is automatically projected to the locking position. as the parts are assembled.
