Abstract

680,975. Snap-action switches. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. July 11, 1951 [Feb. 5, 1951], No. 2789/51. Class 38 (v) A double-pole switch has its actuating mechanism mounted on a metal cover 1 secured to an insulating base 8 containing the contacts. The snap-action is provided by a spring 7 fixed at one end to the cover 1 and at the other end to a lever 4 having movement-limiting lugs 5 passing through a slot 3, and a lug 6 bent-upwards to engage a recess 18 in an insulating plate 17. The latter is pivoted in the base 8 at 14 and carries contacts 20 arranged to bridge spring contact fingers 21 and fixed contacts (not shown), the free ends of fingers 21 resting on ledges 12, 12<SP>1</SP> in the base to maintain a constant distance between them and the fixed contacts. Plate 17 also carries humps 19 which come between the fingers and the fixed contacts in the "off" position, Fig. 2. An insulating plate 22 protects the contacts and has an opening 24 through which the lug 6 passes.
