Abstract

716,375. Switches held set and freed mechanically. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 20, 1952 [March 21, 1951], No. 6772/51. Class 38(5) A switch has its contacts actuated by a cam pivotally-mounted on the outside of a local housing enclosing only the contacts, the housing having an aperture through which the cam extends. The moving contact 15 is carried on a resilient blade 17 having bent-out portions 22 co-operating with cams 34 on a dolly 36 which is pivoted at 35 in brackets 31 secured to the top face 29 of the housing 24 for the contacts. The dolly also co-operates with a wire spring 40 which assists the over-deadcentre action. The housing 24 is secured to the base 10 by rivets 42 into which, are threaded screws 43 which secure an outer cover 44. In a modification (Fig. 6. not shown), the outer cover has a circular aperture which screws on to a circular bracket surrounding the dolly. In a further arrangement, Fig. 7, the cam is mounted on a rocker 56 actuated through a link 55 and plunger 53 by a pull-chain or cord 54. The rocker 56 is pivoted in brackets 31 riveted with the housing 24 to the base 10.
