Abstract

680,824. Radio receiving circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 11, 1950 [Nov. 23, 1949], No. 29967/49. Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi). [Also in Group XL (b)] In a band-pass coupling circuit comprising first and second transformers 3, 4 respectively, each having tuned primary and secondary windings-resonating with condensers 7, 13 and 25, 18 respectively-and wherein means are provided for varying the coupling between the primary and secondary circuits of the respective transformers to vary the pass-band of the circuit, the coupling between the secondary of the first transformer and primary of the second takes the form of a shunt resistance which is adjustable to enable the gain to be maintained relatively constant when the passband is altered. Variation of the pass-band is effected by switches 10, 21 which, in the position shown, introduce additional coupling condensers 8, 20 into the circuits of the respective transformers ; switch 15 at the same time introduces additional resistance 16 in parallel with the resistance 17 coupling the transformers together, so as to maintain the gain constant. Switches 10, 15, 21 may be ganged with a tone-control switch (not shown). Padding condensers 9, 19 are provided to correct the tuning of the respective secondary circuits, when switches 10, 21 are reversed.
