Abstract
646,228. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and IMM, R. C. March 2, 1948, No. 6577. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (b)] Frequency- or phase-modulation apparatus includes at least one coupling circuit comprising two tuned circuits, so coupled that the ratio of the coupling factor to the critical coupling factor is within 10 per cent of 1/#3. If a number of coupling circuits are used, the overall value of this ratio is arranged to be within 5 per cent of 1/#3. The coupling circuit may be the I.F. transformer of a superheterodyne receiver. This is said to reduce distortion due to a non-linear phase/frequency characteristic.
