Abstract
680,564. Hand trucks. HUGHES, C. R. April 30, 1951 [Jan. 31, 1950], No. 2432/50. Class 108 (i). [Also in Group XXX] A wheeled trolley is characterized by a rectangular frame with corner members collectively adapted to support the under-part of a dismounted engine, such members having castor wheels beneath them and being provided at the top with engine-attachment means enabling the engine and trolley to be handled and stored as a single unit. The trolley comprises side and end members A and B protected by metal plates C. In each corner of the frame and projecting thereabove, is fixed a wooden block D, reinforced by a plate F, each to support a mounting lug of the engine E. Each block D carries a supporting castor H and is slotted to accommodate a pivoted hook-shaped catch L which is urged by a leaf-spring, Fig. 3 (not shown), into locking engagement with a flange e<1> on the engine crankcase. In an alternative arrangement the catches L may be replaced by lugs capable of manual rotation about vertical axes. The trolley is so shaped that when the engine is resting thereon there is no relative movement therebetween and, if desired, hinged legs or screwed feet may be provided to raise the castors H off the ground in order that the combined engine and trolley may remain stationary when being transported in a vehicle.
