Abstract
680,292. Mixing appliances. DONOGHUE. M., and McALPINE, R. E. Oct. 12, 1950 [Nov. 8, 1949], No. 28657/49. Class 86 A mixing apparatus capable of mixing unusually sticky and stiff materials comprises an opentopped drum 2, Fig. 1, mounted coaxially and detachably upon a power driven rotary support 1, and at least two scraper blades 12 depending into the drum from a detachable stationary bracket 6 over the mouth of the drum, the blades 12 having vertical and horizontal edges lying respectively along the wall and bottom of the drum and being set at such an angle, Fig. 3, as to urge the contents of the drum away from its periphery in response to rotation of the drum. The drum is preferably provided with a blade 5 upstanding from its bottom in the neighbourhood of its centre. The blades 12 may be adjusted angularly about their supporting bolts 13 and radially along the slots 16 in the bracket 6. The bracket 6 may be locked to the side posts 7 by means of cranked levers 9 of which tail pieces 11 are engagable in registering holes in the side posts 7 and extensions 8 of the bracket 6. The levers 9 serve as lifting handles for the scraper assembly.
