Class 39(iii) An electric heat accumulating block 1 for a stove or forming a hot-plate has a flat upper surface 2 with electric heaters 4 in recesses 3 in its base, and further vertical and horizontal communicating passages 7-9 in the block allow circulation of air heated in the recesses. The block has inwardly or outwardly tapering sides and is mounted on supports 14 with pointed, spherical or knife-edge top parts or on porcelain feet. The electric heaters comprise spiral sheathed elements 5 supported on metal plates 12 secured on the base of the block. The ends of the air passages are covered with wire mesh 10 to prevent entry of the porous mineral wool lagging 18 in which the block 1 is supported in a casing 16, which may have a lagged hinged lid. The block may be placed beneath or at the side of an oven.
