921,826. Electric heat-storage stoves; heat storage cookers. H. V. MANSFIELD. Nov. 13, 1961 [Aug. 16, 1960], No. 28291/60. Classes 39 (3) and 126. An electric cooking-stove comprises an oven consisting of a metal casing having the external faces of its top and bottom walls in contact with flat slabs of heat-retaining material, and electric heating elements located between the top and bottom walls of the oven and their respective heat-retaining slabs. In the example shown, a cooking-stove comprises two ovens 14 and heatretaining slabs 18, 19 in direct contact with the top and bottom walls 16, 17 of the ovens, respectively. Each slab has grooves 20 (Fig. 7) registering with grooves 15 in the corresponding oven walls. Electric heating elements 21 of any suitable type are located in the grooves as shown. In one of three alternative arrangements of the heating elements illustrated in Figs. 4, 5, 6 (not shown), the elements are of triangular crosssection and are located in grooves in the slabs 18, 19 only whilst the corresponding oven walls are not provided with grooves; in the other alternative arrangements heating elements of square or elliptical cross-section are employed. The slabs 18, 19 are made of refractory material such as fireclay, a ceramic substance, or cast iron. In a second example illustrated in Fig. 8 (not shown) the heat-retaining slab 18 is in contact with one or a plurality of blocks for conducting heat to one or a plurality of hot plates 12, heating elements being provided beneath the hot plates to serve as booster elements. The heat-retaining slabs may be provided with sheet-metal backing members (Fig. 8, not shown) and be clamped to the respective ovens by encircling bands. The space between the ovens and an outer casing 10 is filled with heat-insulating material 26 such as resin-bonded fibre glass or slag wool. Specification 890,893 is referred to.
