Abstract

679,957. Feeding bottle-capsules. CLARKEBUILT, Ltd. May 4, 1950 [May 11, 1949], No. 12554/49. Class 125(ii) Apparatus for feeding caps to a bottle 27 or like container from a stack comprises a vertically reciprocating tube 8 having a suction head 7 which is raised up to grip the bottom cap and then descends to draw that cap past a restriction 4, Fig. 2a, and to deposit it on the top surface of a support 6 from which it is swept by a finger 190 into a shoot 18 leading to the head 26. The finger is rotated by collar 24 on the tube 8 having a slot engaged by a depending cranked member 21 connected to the finger. Normally the tube 8 is underatmospheric pressure but when a bottle approaches the head 26 it engages an arm. 33 which moves a valve element 17 against a hole 16 to allow a vacuum to be built up in tube 8 by the source connected to a pipe 15. While the vacuum is to be maintained holes in the upper part of tube 8 are closed off by the part 6 but, to break the vacuum to deposit the cap, the descent of the tube 8 clears these holes from the part 6. A perforated cap 7a may be fitted on the head of the tube 8.
