679,163. Rotary engines and pumps. SOC D' EXPLOITATION DES BREVETS MOINEAU. Sept. 10, 1946 [Sept. 13, 1945], No. 27181/46. Class 110(ii) A rotary mechanism comprises two groups of gears with parallel axes, each formed of an element 2 rolling within another, 1 or 3, the two elements 2 being rigidly connected together by a shaft 5. One stator 1 is fixed and the other 3 given a gyratory movement around the line passing through the axis of the gear 1. The latter motion is secured by a crank 8 on a shaft 7. Flexible diaphragms 10, 11 allow the movement and provide seals. The pitches of the helicoidal elements are of opposite hand. In the case of a pump fluid enters an inlet 12, passes through the annulus between the shaft 5 and a tube 9, is pumped by the element 4 and forced through the shaft 5 to the pump 2 which delivers to a port 13. In cross-section each rotor has two lobes and each stator three lobes. The crank 8 is balanced. Two or more pumps or engines may be combined. Fig. 6 shows another arrangement where four pumps, two being in a plane perpendicular to the figure are driven by screw mechanisms E. Outer elements 3, of the four gears E, are driven in a circular movement by a crankshaft 7. A header 14 supplies all four pumps and the pumps discharge into a header 15.
