Abstract
441,246. Rotary engines. MOINEAU, R. J. L., 7, Rue Lebouis, Paris. May 1, 1935, No. 13024. Convention date, March 21. [Class 110 (ii)] The engine or pump comprises three or more elements 1, 2, 3, with helical threads, each enveloping element having one more thread than its inner member. Fig. 1 shows a rotor 1 attached to a shaft 5 with one thread, a floating member 2, held laterally by collars 7, 8, with two threads, and an outer stationary casing which has three threads. Impelling fluid, or fluid being pumped, passes between ports 10, 11. One or more elements may be of elastic material, and the member 2 may be formed by a stamping process, or an electrolytic deposition on a suitable mould. Fig. 5 shows elements 1, 2, 3, having two, three, and four helical threads. The pitch circles C1, C2, C3, have diameters in the ratio 2 : 3 : 4, the basic outlines of the outlines P1, P2, P3, being built up of epicycloids e1, e2, e3, which are joined to hypocycloids h1, h2, h3. The eccentricity between two members, the pitch and diameter of each member, may vary along the axis of an engine. The various members may be driven by gearing, cranks, or pulleys. A number of engines and/or pumps of the above type, may be grouped together and connected to one driven or driving shaft.
