Abstract

678,890. Seats; resilient mountings. EVERTAUT, Ltd. May 28, 1951. [Aug. 23, 1950] No. 20806/50. Classes 52 (i) and 52 (ii). A chair of the kind having an angularly adjustable back rest pivoted to the chair frame and having a short lower arm carrying an adjusting screw in a threaded aperture the front end of the screw being rotatably mounted in a front bearing member and having resilient means for imparting resilient resistance to pressure on the back rest, is provided with an adjusting screw 9 for the back rest 5 having an unthreaded portion 12 capable of sliding through a front bearing member 13 which is provided with a compressible resilient device which may be a rubber sleeve 17 as shown or a coiled spring. The back rest is pivoted at 4 to the chair frame 1 the short arm 6 having a rotatable threaded bearing shaft 7 for the adjusting screw 9 which is provided with a hand wheel 10. The forward end of the unthreaded part of the screw 9 is provided with a washer 15 and a pin 16 to prevent undesired withdrawal of the screw.
