668,027. Seats. BELISLE, A. J. May 5, 1950. No. 11121/50. Class 52 (ii). A chair having a base and a seat rockably mounted thereon is provided with a device for locking the seat and holding it in adjusted position. The chair comprises a base 2 consisting of side members 6 connected by at least one transverse member 8 and the seat 4 is rockably mounted on the base 2 in any convenient manner and consists of side members 10 connected by at least one transverse member 12. On the transverse member 8 is mounted a U-shaped bracket 16 within which is loosely pivoted on a pin 25 a locking rod 24 while on the transverse member 12 is mounted a plate 26 having a forwardly-extending flange 30 through which passes an operating rod 34 the end of which is threaded into a nut 36 through a transverse hole in which passes the locking rod 24. Upon the operating rod 34 as shown are arranged two nuts 50, 52 clamped between which is a stop member 40 which by abutment with the plate 26 limits the rotation movement of the operating rod 34. Loosely mounted over the locking nut 36 is mounted a collar or sleeve 38 and the locking action comprises drawing 'the locking nut towards the flange 30 until the sleeve 38 is clamped between the locking rod 24 and the flange 30 thereby immobilising the rod 22. The operating rod 34 is provided with a handle 32.
