678,749. Lathe details. WICKMAN, Ltd., A. C. April 4, 1951 [April 28, 1950], No. 10464/50. Class 83 (iii). Tool-slide actuating mechanism for a multispindle lathe &c. of the kind giving rapid movement up to the work, slow cutting feed, and quick return, comprises the combination of a slide, a toggle mechanism connected to the slide, a two-armed lever carried by the slide and adapted at one end to actuate a tool-slide, an adjustable link and lever mechanism connected to the other end of the lever, and rotary cams for actuating the toggle, link and lever mechanisms. A slide b has pivoted thereto a lever d, one end of which may be connected directly to the tool-slide, or, a link r may connect it to the tool slide s as shown. The other end of lever d is adjustably-connected by a link k to a doublearmed lever n pivoted to the frame at o. One end of lever n has a roller p which engages a cam groove q in a rotatable disc i. The slide b is also connected to one link e of a toggle mechanism e, f. Link f of this mechanism carries a roller g which engages a cam-groove h in the face of the disc i opposite to that with the cam-groove q. As the toggle links straighten the tool-slide moves rapidly up to the work and the slow feed movement is obtained from movement of the lever n.
