Abstract

678,747. Trousers. DAVEY, H. H. April 19, 1951 [April 28, 1950; June 1, 1950], Nos. 10458 / 50 and 13690/50. Class 141. A method of producing a trousers' turn-up comprises forming an endless band of material D, Fig. 4, having a circumference corresponding to the trouser leg A which is initially finished with a plain edge, attaching opposite edges of said band to the inside and outside of the leg and folding the band at d<SP>2</SP>, before or after attachment, to give the effect of a normal turn-up. Each trouser leg is preferably cut long enough to provide two bands one of which is attached to the leg, the other providing a replacement when the first becomes worn. Chain stitching E and a pulling tab are preferably provided to facilitate removal of the band. In an alternative construction, Fig. 8, the edges of the band D are secured by lines of stitching G, H, each provided with a pulling tab F 1 , F, respectively. Fastening means such as press studs may replace the stitching, if desired. A spare turn-up of different material or colour may also be provided.
