Abstract

514,414. Bathing costumes. DOERTENBACH, E. May 5, 1933, Nos. 13483 and 13484. Convention dates, May 5, 1937, and Feb. 17, 1938. [Class 141] A bathing costume made of slightly or wholly unyielding material preferably patterned is provided with one or more elastic portions extending throughout the length of the costume, each elastic portion comprising a plurality of elastic strips spaced apart from one another, and expansible transversely of the length of the costume. In the form shown, the elastic portions 3, 4, are provided at the sides of the costume, the strips 9 forming each elastic portion being. stitched while stretched to the inner side of the costume, and each strip is covered by a lining band 10. The elastic portions are supplemented by other elastic portions 2, 5, and 15. In a modification, the strips forming each elastic portion each comprise a rubber band enclosed in a tubular fabric covering, and bridge a gap between the front and back portions of the costume, the strips being disposed either perpendicularly to the length of the costume, or diagonally in the form of an openwork pattern.
