847,076. Lay figures. BALDWIN Ltd., A., and BALDWIN, A. Aug. 15, 1956 [June 29, 1956], No. 25015/56. Class 52(5) A lay figure on which garments are made is formed from shaped sections of flexible sheet material, detachably and adjustably secured together, and includes a blouse section 10 comprising right and left bust sections 40, waist sections 20, and back sections 30. The figure includes a two-part skirt section 15 and a collar section 50, the sections being flat blanks cut from cardboard, synthetic resin &c. and being secured together by split stem or other fasteners 46, 47, 68. Adjoining edges of the blanks have series of apertures such as 27a, 28a in Fig 6 to provide variation in size and the figure is adjustably curved to simulate the bust and waist by slitting at 45, 77 and securing the overlapped edges of the slit by a fastener. The bust sections are extended rearwardly and secured to the back sections at a point beyond the uppermost shoulder area to aid the fitting of the shoulder of the garment.
