Nov. 15, 1950 [Jan. 9, 1950], No. 539/50 Class 99 (i) In an economizer, tube connecting means comprises two tube length c, g<SP>1</SP>, each having a greater abutting joint surface area than the wall of the associated tube a, the tube length c being butt or flash welded at one end to the tube a and screw threaded at its other end to receive an internally threaded flange f adapted in conjunction with a similar flange h on one end of the tube length g<SP>1</SP>, to enable the joint surfaces to be clamped together. Preferably a clamping ring g is interposed between these joint surfaces. The tube lengths c, g<SP>1</SP> may be made of material having a higher tensile strength than the material of the tube a.
