Abstract
678,413. Manual seed-sowing. GAVET, J. H. Jan. 4, 1951 [June 27, 1950], No. 16039/50. Class 6(ii) A hand seed-sowing frame 1, 2 carries either an apertured seed-plate 4 having its apertures 7 closable by a relatively-movable obturating plate 8, or a die-plate 10 having dibbles 13 corresponding to the seed-plate holes. In use, the frame is first placed on the soil with the die-plate in position so that the dibbles 13 penetrate the soil. Ribs 6 on the underside of the frame mark the soil and enable the frame to be later replaced in position. The dieplate is then removed from the frame and replaced by the seed-plate with the apertures closed. Seeds are brushed into the apertures and the frame is replaced on the soil. Movement of the obturator then enables the seeds to fall into the previouslymade holes. The frame incorporates handles 3.
