701,898. Handbags. LAMARTHE, A. E. Dec. 19, 1952 [Dec. 21, 1951; July 11, 1952; Oct. 7, 1952], No. 32201/52. Class 133 [Also in Group XXV] A handbag with an automatically opening flap R has rigid bars B', B<SP>2</SP> interconnected by spring blades L<SP>1</SP>, L<SP>2</SP> the bar B' engaging the outer edge of the flap R and bar B<SP>2</SP> being enclosed inside the surface forming an extension of the flap R. When the flap is closed the blades L', L<SP>2</SP> are yieldingly bent and when the retaining means consisting of a stud 3 and pivoted plate 5 is released the flap opens automatically. In a modification Fig. 6 bars B', B<SP>4</SP> are connected by a single spring blade L<SP>3</SP>.
