Abstract

678,232. Seats. VANDEN PLAS (ENGLAND) 1923, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1951. [Feb. 14, 1950] No. 3775/50. Class 52 (ii). A motor car body is provided with an arm rest associated with the end of a seat the arm rest being movable upwardly or downwardly from its normal operative position into a position permitting free ingress and egress of a passenger to and from the seat. Fig, 3 shows an arm rest 4 pivoted to a wheel arch 3 for the back seat the arm rest being provided with a spigot 12 adapted to enter a recess 13 and be retained therein by a ball or other catch when the arm rest is in normal operative position. Fig. 7 shows an arm rest 23, for the front seat, pivoted at 24 in a recess in the back squab and capable of being lowered into a recess at the side of the seat 25 to permit free ingress and egress to the seat. The arm rest is provided with a lever 26 pivoted at 27 and provided with a push button 29 and a notch 34 adapted to co-act with a fixed stop 35.
