678,020. Making heating &c. coils. HUET, A., and COMPAGNIE DES SURCHAUFFEURS. Nov. 28, 1949 [Dec. 1, 1948], No. 30434/49. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). Angular bending.-A method of bending two concentric tubes comprises creating on each tube prior to assembly a difference of temperature between the sides of the tube and bending the tubes with the hotter part of the tube on the inside of the bend. Tubes a, b are heated in the regions AD, BC and the tube b inserted in the tube a. Spacers may be inserted between the tubes which are then bent in a known machine. Serpentines for heat-exchange apparatus are made by welding straight concentric tubes to the bend, Fig. 6. Straight inner tubes d are welded to the inner bend b and the outer tubes and the outer bend be connected by a sleeve f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> which may be split and lapped or butted to the parts. Specification 678,002 is referred to.
