Abstract

1,093,827. Making heat exchangers. SACKVILLE Ltd. Dec. 4, 1964 [Sept. 5, 1963], No. 35060/63. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F4] In an air heater (see Division F4) in which an air heating chamber 16 embraces a curved length 12 of I.C. engine exhaust pipe, a method of making the air heater comprises fitting a straight length of tubing 17 in tight contact over a straight length 12 of exhaust pipe, bending the assembly to the curve required, positioning a preformed outer tube 18 over the inner tube 17 and welding these two together by means of annular closure members 19 to form the chamber 16. As shown the ends of the inner tube 17 project beyond the closure members 19. The material used is preferably 16 s.w.g. sheet metal.
